Accountant Resume Guide — CPA, GAAP, and ERP Keywords
Accounting resumes should emphasize accuracy, compliance, and system proficiency. Numbers matter — but so do the processes behind them.
Quantify scope: 'Managed the month-end close for 6 entities, reducing close time from 12 to 8 days.'
Show compliance expertise: 'Led SOX compliance audits with zero material findings for 3 consecutive years.'
Mention your certifications prominently: CPA, CMA, EA, or progress toward them. For public accounting, include exam status.
List ERP and tools: SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, QuickBooks, Xero, Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, Power Query), Alteryx, BlackLine.
Show tax/reporting depth: 'Prepared federal and state tax filings for a $250M revenue company, saving $1.2M through credits and planning.'
Include reconciliation and analysis wins: 'Automated monthly bank reconciliations, freeing 15 hours per month.'
Use standard section headers and a clean one-page format — accounting firms value clarity and precision.
