How to Write a Resume for Amazon — Leadership Principles

Amazon's bar is tied to its 16 Leadership Principles. Your resume should demonstrate them with evidence, not buzzwords.

Ownership: Show that you took initiative beyond your role and owned outcomes end-to-end.

Customer Obsession: Highlight work where you started from the customer's problem and measured satisfaction or retention impact.

Bias for Action: Show quick experiments, fast iterations, and examples of shipping without waiting for perfect information.

Deliver Results: Amazon loves metrics. Every bullet should have a measurable outcome — revenue, efficiency, quality, or speed.

Examples: 'Owned delivery of X, improving [metric] by Y% in Z months against a tight deadline.'

Amazon also values frugality and invent-and-simplify: show cost savings and clever simplifications.

Use the STAR format in bullets and be ready to defend every claim in interviews — Amazon asks probing follow-ups.
